Intro

Urban regeneration processes are forms of management of an area in which, more than ever, the success of the project is closely linked to the participation of the population and to the structuring of simple and economically sustainable pilot projects, which can be perfected during implementation through a necessary monitoring, which is punctual, critical and shared.

The district contract for Ponterio started with this spirit and has evolved through public exchange and sharing meetings that not only allowed to identify the needs and expectations of the people but also to be able to focus on the characteristics of the place that were either unexpressed or made up of values not tangible and measurable but rather related to the memory and perception of individuals.

In the Ecopixel park, under construction on a floodable land secured with the construction of a green embankment, a characterless space located inside a marginal district of the historic city will be transformed. The aim was to give it identity by creating public spaces, green areas for sports and leisure activities, along with socialization and meeting places (vegetable gardens).

The park and the new plan of the territory along the embankment tap into the forgotten peasant tradition that is still alive in the memory of the elderly, the research and studies conducted by the faculty of agriculture on typical and forgotten fruit trees, which will be reused here, as well as the data on the high impact of pollen allergies among the children of the neighborhood, in order to choose the essences suitable for everyone.
